Overview

Overcome your fears, dive into the deep and swim alongside magnificent whale sharks. Enjoy your 6 night adventure, with the eco-friendly Las Animas Wilderness Lodge as your base. Begin your trip on a private aircraft, optimizing your time exploring the natural wonders of the Sea of Cortez. Spend your mornings with these “gentle giants,” your mealtimes eating freshly prepared Mexican cuisine, and your afternoons enjoying an incredible choice of activities like snorkeling with nearby sea lions or simply relaxing in your private hammock. Bahía de los Angeles biosphere reserve is the only site in the world where whale sharks dependably arrive in large numbers every summer.

Itinerary Highlights

Fly in a single-engine plane to the remote Mexican fishing village of Bahia de los Angeles, with a population of 500. Shuttle south in a 26-foot boat to the rustic Las Animas Wilderness Lodge on a turquoise cove. Stay close to nature in your beachside yurt, and enjoy the meals prepared by private chefs and local Mexican beers and margaritas (all included).

Get as close to whale sharks as possible, swimming by the gorgeously spotted creatures as they swim near the surface, mouths agape, in order to feed on the plankton which has coloured the sea jade. Be amazed by their great size (they can reach lengths upwards of 40 feet) and gentle spirit (have no fear of being eaten by these herbivores).

Explore the beautiful wilderness on a variety of activities. Boat to off-shore islands and find lengths of private beach to watch beautiful tropical birds. Take out a sea kayak or a sailboat and enjoy the amazing scenery of the Sea of Cortez. Hike to gain a new perspective and observe the area by foot.
